ENCOURAGING WORDS FROM PASTOR FREEMAN
TREASURE
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. II Corinthians 9:7
As with our time and talent, we are to be stewards of our treasure; the material resources places in our hand. There are important principles relating to the stewardship of material resources taught in the Bible.
To begin with, everything belongs to God by virtue of creation; and we are simply returning to god what is His already.
Secondly, we give to God voluntarily, in accordance with His blessing and not legalistically, because we are here to. He chooses to use us as channels to bless others and to meet their needs. In God’s economy, it is more blessed to give than to receive.
Finally, we cannot our give God. He will always return a blessing more abundantly than anything we give.
A young Christian once asked an elderly believer with a meager income, “How can you afford to tithe?” to which the old man replied, “I cannot afford not to tithe!” He had learned the valuable lesson that God is no man’s debtor, AMEN!!!
Fourth Sunday is Harvest Sunday. Let us give back unto God as He has given unto us. |
