‘MEN THAT COOK’ BANQUET & FASHION SHOW:

Annual Men’s Day Celebration

Saturday - March 26, 2011

Theme: “Unified Brethren That have Taken The Step Of Faith”

The men of Poplar Spring Missionary Baptist Church began the second day of their annual celebration with a fashion show that brought the models down the runway in style!

The moderator for the fashion show was Trustee James Rousey. The program opened with a song and prayer. And modeling the latest and greatest men’s fashions were Deacon Veldee Burts, Deacon David Beaty, Deacon Morris Turner, Bro. B. Wayne Brady, and Bro. Winston Chandler. The guys were in rare form this year and got oohs and ahhs all around the room. Outfits modeled were from spring style to Sunday dress up and from Casual to Oh So Classy! Way to go guys!!! Every one looked great in Jesus!

The weather outside was a little rainy, but inside the men of the church were sizzling as they cooked up tasty dishes that tickled the pallet and pleased all who came to admire and please the appetite!. Following is a list of the dishes that were served :

Bro. Winston Chandler made his famous Cherry Yum Yum

Deacon Ted McNeil made his signature dish “Ted’s Banana Pudding”

Deacon Veldee Burts made his traditional Banana Pudding

Deacon James Gardner presented his home made Pecan Chicken Salad

Deacon James Lewers contributed a Baked Ham

Deacon David Beaty whipped up his special Cabbage O’pepion

Bro. B. Wayne Brady made Spaghetti & Meat Sauce with Garlic Bread Sticks

Deacon Otis Williams cooked up a Cabbage Casserole

Bro. Robbie Collier dished up a Broccoli Casserole and Shepherd Pie

Trustee James Rousey had a crowd pleaser with his Chicken Alfredo

Bro. Jimmy Yeargin made Finger Food Wieners on a Stick

Bro. Ellis Williams made yummy Meatballs

Deacon Jerry Commander baked a succulent Chuck Roast

Everyone ate and had a wonderful fellowship despite the rainy weather! YUM YUM!!!
