Spiritual Ensemble Choir 44th Anniversary

Sunday, March 20, 2011

The occasion opened with a processional by Pastor Freeman, the Associate Ministers and the Spiritual Ensemble as the choir sang “Lord, You Keep On Blessing Me!”. The choir sang with uplifted voices filled with the blessings and anointing that could only have come from God. Voices that have the talents to soothe your soul and calm your every fear. The choir rendered several songs of Zion including “It Ain’t Nothing Like Having Church On Sunday Morning!”, “I’ve been Delivered”, “I Feel Your Presence All Over Me”, “He Speaks to Me” and “One More Chance to Praise You”.

“Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and His praise in the congregation of saints.” (Psalms 149:1) King James Version

God’s Word!

Pastor Freeman spoke to the congregation in sermonette on “The Name”. As the children of God who fly their heads and hearts under the banner of Christendom, there should be one name that sticks out in our minds. He told the congregation that there is one name that should excite the believers in the church today. One name that can cause us to cry when we recognize who bears our burdens for us. One name that is so magnificent that when the Trinity was formed He talked to the name and commissioned the Spirit and God said it was “good”. The name has so much power that the dead will rise at the sound of his voice - so much power that when stormy seas roar, they have to hush! When the Name came into existence, it was called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God and the Rock in a weary land. When things get bad, the government shall be on his shoulder! The name is a shelter in a time of storm. And a spirit spoke to the virgin and said that his name shall be called Emmanuel - meaning God is with us! The name is so precious that when it was time to speak on the cross the name looked up and said “My God, My God, why has thou forsaken me!” He hung, bled and died for us on the cross. But early on the 3rd day morning, He got up with all power. The name of Jesus has the power to calm the storms in your life. The name of Jesus will make you walk right when you can’t help yourself. The name of Jesus will be your walking stick, your leaning pole, your bridge over troubled waters, your money when it’s funny, and the doctor in your sick room!!

And one bright morning when this old life is over, when we fly away; every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior!! As the choir continued to ‘speak” the word in song, the spirit was truly moving in this worship celebration. When the choir sang “Oh How Precious Is The Name Of Jesus” the spirit spread throughout the sanctuary. As believers, we have to walk in the mysteries of God. Because He loves us and He wants us to believe in Him. And as believers, we know that He is coming back to claim his people. All we have to do to reach out to Him is to say “Father, I stretch my hands to thee!” If you want salvation - come to God. Believe and confess Him as your Savior. Don’t let anything keep you from knowing God! Hallelujah!!

Congratulations to the Poplar Spring Spiritual Ensemble on their 44th Anniversary! From Pastor Freeman and your PSMBC church family

“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:31) King James Version
